PDP likely set to claim Bauchi State
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) would now on the 19th March resume collation of votes from the 20th local government area of Bauchi State which was earlier rejected by Muhammed Kyari the returning officer in the state.
PoliticalTempo gathered that the announcement was made in a statement made available by the commission on Friday.
In the already collated results Senator Bala Muhammed of the PDP had already led with some 4,059 votes. In the results the APC had a total of 465,453 votes against the PDP’s 469,512 votes.
The results announced there was 45, 312 votes said to have been cancelled but the commission has discovered that there was an error in the number of cancelled votes from Ningi local government. As it stands instead of 25,330 that was recorded the actual votes we're 2,533. The commission will effect the correction on resumption of the collation on Tuesday. Therefore the cancelled votes will then be reduced from 45,312 to 17,449 making it more likely for PDP to stamp its victory.
The ealier announced results of Tafawa Balewa collation centre, which the returning officer rejected placed the PDP at an advantage lead with 40,010 votes against the APC’s 29,862 votes.
If this is what will be accepted then PDP would have won the election in Bauchi with over 14 thousand votes.
